Kelly Sloan

Kelly Sloan is a singer, songwriter, and educator who was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. She began singing at the age of twelve with a program called Mosaic Youth Theatre of Detroit, and music has remained an integral part of her life ever since.

In 2013, after moving to New York City, Kelly began working as a background singer for a variety of up-and-coming bands and artists. A highlight was the opportunity to sing backup for Grammy-winning recording artist Sam Smith on Saturday Night Live. Kelly soon decided to focus on honing her skills as a songwriter, and what started out as simple jam sessions among friends soon blossomed into a successful creative career.  Within just two years, Kelly had released over fifteen songs, both in collaboration and as a solo artist. She was commissioned to write the theme song and co-write on the soundtrack for the short film “Go Fish” by Jamila Brown, and eventually released a solo EP titled “Blank Pages," which is available on iTunes, Spotify and all major music outlets. Her most recent work includes the score for the upcoming musical Iona Flies Away by Tanisha Christie.

Kelly loves teaching because it gives her the opportunity to pass along the knowledge that was imparted to her by some of her most influential music teachers: that anyone has the ability to sing! Singing, like anything in life, is a craft that takes practice, training, and patience - but it should also be exciting and fun. Wherever you may be along your musical journey, Kelly looks forward to working with you and helping you to achieve your goals.
