Piano
Brianna Wylie is an experienced pianist whose love of music is tied to community and experiencing music with others. Brianna's piano experience blossomed under the teaching of her classical piano tutor. The over-a-decade relationship cemented a solid foundation of music technique and theory. Brianna's love of music through community was founded when she began playing piano for her middle school choir, which continued into her high school years. Brianna's involvement as a school pianist included leading sectionals, accompanying the choir in most of their musical performances, accompanying various instruments in local and state competitions, and even playing in the pit for the annual school musicals as first pianist.
Brianna's piano and performance experience was also gained through her work as a church pianist. Her beginnings of worship piano started when she was young, playing for the choir and singing until adulthood, when she became a worship team leader herself. Other piano involvement includes playing for events such as festivals, weddings, and ceremonies.
Brianna's personal experience of teaching is an interweaving of music education as well as STEM concepts. Brianna's experience and love of teaching were ingrained at a young age. Having a public school teacher as a mother, she was able to see the real difference that having an adult figure who was truly engaged in a child's life makes. She began her formal music teaching in college with various children and teenagers in her church. She expanded her wheelhouse of subjects to tutor at the beginning of grad school, where she would tutor math and physics and even coding classes for summer camps.
The primary motivator and joy of teaching is being able to encourage children with curiosity to embolden young minds to be creative and learn new things about themselves and the world in a non-judgmental environment. Brianna truly believes every child has an inner world and desires that are real and powerful, and teaching is just a way to help these little people cement their worlds into reality.
