Voice

Elizebeth Barnes is a third generation voice teacher and singer. Her mother studied with her paternal grandmother, and Elizebeth followed in the steps of two amazing voice teachers, building a studio of her own. Elizebeth Barnes is a graduate of The Eastman School of Music, where she completed her Masters degree in Voice Performance. She previously received her Bachelor of Music from The University of Hartford’s The Hartt School, graduating Summa Cum Laude.

Elizebeth's first love was musical theater, and she never passes up the opportunity to see a Broadway show in New York. Opera was introduced gradually, and she immediately fell in love. Elizebeth's musical endeavors have taken her to all parts of North America. In 2017, Elizebeth joined The Atlanta Opera Chorus for their production of Der Fliegende Holläder. Other past appearances include roles as Dido in Dido and Aeneas with the Chicago Summer Opera, Dorabella in Così fan tutte at the Halifax Summer Opera Festival, Peep-Bo in The Mikado, Edith in Pirates of Penzance and Dorothée in Cendrillon all with Performance Santa Fe. She was also a chorus member in the 2014 production of Fidelio at The Santa Fe Opera.

During her time at the Eastman School of Music, Elizebeth performed the roles of Prince Charmant in Cendrillon, Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro and Suor Zelatrice in Suor Angelica, as well as Ruth in Pirates of Penzance with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra. At The Hartt School, Elizebeth played the Mother in Ahmal and the Night Visitors, Mrs. Jones in Street Scene, and Zweite Dame in Die Zauberflöte

Elizebeth is very passionate about opera, choral music, and new music. She performed in the world premiere of "Music for a Large Space" by David McBride, premiered the song cycle "Views from the Plutonian Shore" by Kyle Wernke, and premiered the song for solo voice and piano "In a Corner" by Riley Spitzfaden.

Joanna Levy and Jonathan Retzlaff trained Elizebeth in voice pedagogy. Elizebeth is a great match for those looking to really understand the vocal mechanism, as well as those who just want to have a great time learning to sing.
