Piano, Voice

Mrs. Adiya McNeil began playing the piano at the age of four. Her mother quickly noticed that she had a very good singing voice and a great ear to pick up any song, and so along with her piano lessons, Adiya began singing in church and for special events. In elementary school, she played the flute, clarinet, and violin. She went on to attend a performing arts high school, where she double majored in piano and voice. Adiya received countless awards for piano and vocal performance based on reading music, teaching vocal parts, and original vocal and instrumental arrangements.

Mrs. McNeil is a gospel recording artist and has written original music for her freshman album. Recording, publishing, and releasing her first album was a highlight of her musical career. She also performs for churches and communities around the DMV singing jazz, R&B, and gospel music, and has sung background vocals for artists such as Mariah Carey, JJ Harrison, and Stevie Wonder, to name a few. As of 2019, she is currently in her second year of study at Liberty University Online with a focus in Early Childhood Education.

Mrs. McNeil started teaching music in 2015 after meeting her husband, who also teaches music. She is a preschool teacher by day and private lesson teacher by night. Her love and commitment for teaching began in high school, when she had a less-than-positive experience with a teacher and vowed to be a better, more fun instructor for her own students. Her lesson plans are specifically tailored to best fit the needs and interests of each individual student, from very young children to retired adults and everyone in between. For children, her approach is very creative, silly, and fun!

Mrs. McNeil’s goal is to give her students insight into the wonderful world of music. By making lessons fun and stress-free, she not only helps her students to learn music, but also inspires them to be the best they can be.
